We cordially invite you to participate in a European survey about the barriers, challenges, and enablers for the adoption of personalised prevention strategies [Box 1]. Successful Personalised prevention is only possible if citizens, health professionals, policy makers, and researchers are all aware of their potential and have the knowledge and resources to design and implement them.

The survey was developed by researchers of the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) in Portugal, in collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Italy, and the Karolinska Institute (KI) in Sweden, as part of the activities of the PROPHET project (Personalised Prevention Roadmap for the future healthcare), funded by the European Commission under the Horizon EUROPE Programme.

The Ethical Commitees of INSA and the UCSC have approved the survey protocol.

Box 1.

What is personalised prevention?

According to the PROPHET project experts, personalised prevention (PP) “aims to prevent onset, progression and recurrence of disease through the adoption of targeted interventions that consider the biological information (e.g., genetics and other biomarkers, demographics, health condition), environmental and behavioural characteristics, socio-economic and cultural context of individuals.

This should be timely, effective and equitable in order to maintain the best possible balance in lifetime health trajectory”.

What is the main purpose of this survey?

The results of the survey will contribute to the development of a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) on personalised prevention.

How much time do I need to devote to this survey?

Answering the survey will take approximately 15 minutes. If you cannot complete the whole survey at once, you can save and leave the survey, and return at a later moment.

What happens if I participate?

Participation is voluntary. There is no payment for participating in the survey. You can decide to stop your participation at any time.

Your answers will be analysed by the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), from Lisbon-Portugal, and their PROPHET partners. Your answers are confidential and will be aggregated with those from other participants in the survey, analysed jointly. The aggregated results will be disseminated through reports and academic journals. The results will be stored and analysed in accordance with the European Data Protection Regulation.
